About US

We are a youth group of 25 and unders based in Oxfordshire fighting for revolutionary environmental and social change.

We fight because extreme capitalism is causing gross inequality, poverty, and the Earth’s sixth mass extinction. It gives money and power to a small number of people, who use it for their own benefit, without regard for the needs of the planet and the young people who will have to deal with the shit they have left us.

We don't have time to be ineffective any longer: we need organised networks of resistance to struggle against capitalism. We work with other local movements that struggle against the patriarchal, colonial, capitalist system. We are organised into teams to share out tasks, helping us to work efficiently and collectively.

We follow a youth liberation ethic. Young people are oppressed by an adult-dominated society. As a youth group, we are particularly interested in self-organising for our own liberation. Past and current revolutions have almost exclusively been led by young people; we are the catalysts of change. NO! Against Adult Supremacy!

Purpose

We have 2 set goals for 2040, which was decided after extensive group discussions about the direction the world, and specifically our region is headed. These keep us focused on the projects that will keep us most effective.

why we made this

In XR Youth Oxfordshire, we think the next strategic move for the environmental movement is to face up to the material needs of people: food, warmth, shelter, and safety.

We can see that every crisis we are currently facing are the same we will be facing in 20 years, just at a hugely accelerated rate. We can expect more: food shortages, wars, far-right and fascist media, state repression, pandemics, migration control, cost of living crises. We’re not fighting against a climate catastrophe in the future: we’re in it.

Our job is to mitigate damages, build grassroots power, and fight extractivist expansion that will worsen our situation.

We don't have time to be ineffective any longer: we need to win.
