In XR Youth Oxfordshire, we think the next strategic move for the environmental movement is to face up to the material needs of people: food, warmth, shelter, and safety.

 

We can see that every crisis we are currently facing are the same we will be facing in 20 years, just at a hugely accelerated rate. We can expect more: food shortages, wars, far-right and fascist media, state repression, pandemics, migration control, cost of living crises. We’re not fighting against a future climate catastrophe: we’re in it.

 

Our job is to mitigate damages, build grassroots power, and fight extractivist expansion that will worsen our situation.
